schjeldahl_p.jpg New Yorker art critic Peter Schjeldahl said in a recent speech given there, that Chicago is a “receptor city.”

Let’s face it, he’s right.

We all know WHY and WHEN this transition occurred from a modest-but-improving “Transmitter” art-city to a “Receptor” one. And WHO was behind it.

Leave the woman where she is.
She has two arms of her own
And two legs for that matter
(Which, sir, are no longer any affair of yours).
See that you yourself come through.

I'm a fan of Archer Prewitt's work, and an even bigger fan of BoingBoing.net. Following is a blurb of their blurb.
Sof' Boy is a wonderful but extremely infrequently-published comic book by musician and artist Archer Prewitt. I love this comic about a homeless, naive dough boy who happily lives in a crime- and filth-ridden urban neighborhood, surviving attacks by man and beast because he is made out of some kind of indestructible, infinitely elastic rubber.

Giant Robot sells Sof' Boy comics: Combo Reprint (Issue #01 & Issue #02), Issue #03.

Not only was Sharkstock 2 completely brilliant, but the Sharkpacks own Poet Laureate Dr. Simone Muench easily blew away all competition when it comes to being Chicagos most alluringly literate bartendress.

Lost Weekend in Bangalore

| | Comments (2)

orry I've been out of touch, things have been a bit hectic lately - had a lost weekend in Bangalore, hanging out with DJ Anoop Absolute and his lovely wife Roxy, who works a heavy schedule for Tommy Filthfinger... I mean Hilfgiger - I finally succumbed to the electronic throb after a couple Johnny Walker Blacks and danced with the lemon-lime lollipop girls - In a land of a thousand talas - the complex beats of Indian music - But you gotta just about break down and weep when you see everybody shakin' what their mama gave 'em to that tired old 4/4 - Ate every chance I could at Koshy's - delish tandoori fish - Yep, finally fell off the veg wagon for a bit of tasty violenece - My apologies to my finned friends - Next time dinner's on me...
