The Anti-Manifesto
Why is it that creatives, who demonstrate such an abundance of courage when they choose such a demanding and challenging life, demonstrate such a lack of it once they get out into the concrete world of making it? How is it that avoidance of any position which may be viewed as impolitic has become a governing doctrine? Doesn't "open mindedness" dictate an ability and an impulse toward exposure to a wide range of perspectives, especially those which make us uncomfortable?
Our contention is quite plain - it's better to be criticized for your stated positions than to be misinterpreted and ridiculed based on the assumptions of others. Our editors aren't told what to write, and they aren't censored when they choose to voice an unpopular view. What we're saying is this - interesting dialog comes from contrast. No one is as smart as everyone.
