Or, if, I can explain away/make a case for this trendy crap, Perhaps I can salvage my reputation in tatters after that rock show/Sympathy For The Devil debacle- (universally loathed in rock music and most quarters of the art world,) and then maybe, just maybe, someone IMPORTANT! will Notice Me! I Might Even Get To Be A Real 'Somebody' Within The International Curatorial Consensus Conglomerate!
The Shark and friends haha! have a little foray planned into the tepidly rancid waters of the truly wretched (feeble) anti-painting genre as epitomized by quite possibly the worst painter to ever 'grace' the pages of Art In America (times must be tough with all of these blogging sharks being such better, more engaging writers than what Art In (NYC) OOPS! I mean 'America'- with lip service to the provinces of course- is able to come up with... I mean, come on people, here we are in Chicago, stuck! with the unfortunate likes of Susan Snodgrass (politically compromised apparatchik ordinaire -tautology necessary) and Victor (am I a misplaced junior high school principle or just simple idiot?) Cassidy. I digress, KILIMNIK! Shes AWFUL! And we, are going to discuss the many, many ways this is so. Not to mention why it is, that The MCA serves as a mouthpiece/petri dish/ trial balloon, for what's happening ('cutting edge') in the local New York scene, rather than creating their own canon, and perhaps dare I say it, referencing from.... here! You know! Like what they do in New York, or LA, or London or, Berlin, or Bejing, or Tokyo or Sao Paulo or, even HAVANA!- (its called being original!) - its something endemic to most large metropolitan areas, what these places attempt to accomplish, be about (its called civilization -as in, a group of unique, inimitable individuals dwelling together, (we, men and women ie. ''human', in the process of 'being' and doing so, whole heartedy, not, complacently; exchanging ideas, originating, -as opposed to conforming, going through the motions, lacking imagination, ill formed, and half-hearted -as in, what is evil...) Stay tuned for a reckoning (bloodbath) of epic proportions.

Rhonda Leiberman fawned in Artforum about Kilimnik:
"When we see a commodity, we are supposed to recall this moment of courtship and promised transcendence in the ad, not the actual reality of the way it circulates in real life. If Karl Lagerfeld could see the way the Chanel look has trickled down all over the streets, and worse, into low-end department stores, he wouldn't stop throwing up. It is the beauty of this reality--the way the glamour fantasy shatters (and splinters into embodiment by a multiplicity of perspectives and body types)--that Karen's drawings represent for me."
Huh?
This art is vapid, curatorial "perception management" at its worst.
"In Mannerism the joy of life that had characterized the art, poetry and prose of the Renaissance suddenly vanished and was replaced by cynicism, weariness of the world, and a preoccupation with dissolution and decay within ill-accomplished over-attenuated styles." And now narcissistical curation of cynical teen-age-fixated pictures of actors and other cliches expressing weariness of the world, and a preoccupation with dissolution and decay within ill-accomplished over-attenuated styles.
