Pissed off that the MCA's rock and art show Sympathy For The Devil includes only ONE! ...ONE! Chicago artist while pandering to the same tired group of 'Ren' approved usual suspects from both coasts yet again? The 'local' LA artists, and the 'local' NYC artists must be laughing their asses off as to what a bunch of patsies those complacent dupes in Chicago are-
Hell yea they will show in our city -how did they get known? Oh! Thats right, from LOCAL SUPPORT IN THEIR CITIES! But here, if the Art Institute or the MCA supports us, they run the risk of ghettoizing us, of being provincial......yea, right! And how does Chicago differ in this respect from either LA or NYC beyond having a bunch of visionless and spineless bureaucrats ensconsed in power here, desperately attempting to be 'with it' everywhere else?
Still seething with rage when it comes to the kiddee land from hell piece of shit mediocrity the pier was turned into in the name of the almighty fast food dollar? Thus destroying the venue for our number one in the world art fair - in order to create a venue for hordes of overfed suburbanites to bring their fat little brats errrrrrrr- kids to; -that they might stick their heads yet again in the fat food trough, slurp down yet more flab, and buy cheap trinkets and related garbage by the truckloads?
Suspicous that all three artists from here with work in the 40th year highlights/aqcuisitions show at the MCA (even the richly deserving Kerry James Marshall)- and the very ordinary painter Judy Ledgerwood and hubby are all closely involved with Judith Kirshner? That with both Tony and Judy -Kirshner had a collector friend buy the work -and then walla! when it is donated to the museum- said collectors inner city country club -bought and paid for, it puts the stamp of institutional authority on, her institutional authority! ......nothing like a sick joke told in a town of artists too frightened of their own shadows to even be insulted-or appalled -at how rigged and fake the outcome and conference of what is 'important' from here actually is.....
Nothing that an F16 Falcon -fully armed -missles, naplam, laser guide smart bombs -the works! -couldn't cure.
What about the art? -Don't hit Excavation -The Bathers or, the Cornell Boxes.....in fact, just concentrate on all that second rate impressionist saccharine -and by this I'm not meaning the Van Goghs or early Monets -but the Sisley's, Renoirs...Nuke em! -before taking out the epitome of 2nd rate curatorial practice -Mr Curator himself.........and then its over to the MCA to rid ourselves of that architectual catastrophe....of course, a smart bomb might see that dump coming up fast in the view finder and turn tail and run for the hills!
With the air show in town what is there to do but ponder 'what if' the world was a better place?
Oh, and yes, as far as Mr Curator goes -why waste a perfectly good bomb when a little napalm will do the trick?-just a little, we wouldn't want him to get all toasty or roast in hell too quickly........
